From Royal Vision to
the Breath of Life: Join us in caring for our "Four-Legged
Heroes"—the vital contributors to saving human lives.
The
story began on January 21, 2000, along the Hua Hin-Pa La-U route in Prachuap
Khiri Khan Province. Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn,
Executive Vice President of the Thai Red Cross Society, presided over the
opening of the "Horse Farm & Laboratory Animal Breeding Center,
Thai Red Cross Society (Commemorating the 6th Cycle Birthday
Anniversary)." This facility was established to honor the auspicious
72nd birthday of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great, the Royal
Patron of the Thai Red Cross Society.
Spanning
over 646 rai of royal grant land, this location is more than just a research
station or a typical horse farm; it is a fundamental pillar of the Thai public
health system. More than 500 rai have been transformed into vast, lush pastures
where horses can live naturally, while the remaining area houses modern
facilities for comprehensive farm management. This includes breeding programs,
international-standard healthcare, and the rearing of experimental animals to
test the quality of medical products before they reach the public.
Under
the shelter of this station, 495 horses currently reside. To us, they are not
just animals—they are "Lifesavers" working quietly behind the scenes.
Their primary mission is to provide plasma, which is processed into life-saving
antivenoms for snakebites, rabies immunoglobulins, and Botulinum antitoxins.
These medical essentials provide a second chance at life for tens of thousands
of patients every year.
Every
single dose of serum begins with the utmost care, rooted in love and
professional ethics. Our team of veterinarians and staff work tirelessly on
annual health check-ups, vaccinations, and pasture management to ensure the
horses receive the best nutrition from both fresh grass and concentrated feed.
From individual identification and medical treatment to compassionate end-of-life
care, we ensure these "Heroes" remain in peak health before they
provide the precious plasma used to save human lives.
Caring
for nearly 500 heroes to ensure their well-being and readiness for this great
mission involves significant daily operational costs. These include
high-quality fresh and dry grass, concentrated feed, medical supplies,
vaccines, and the maintenance of a standardized farm system.
Thai
Red Cross Society invites you to be a part of the "A Meal for
Horses" project. Your donation is more than just a meal; it is a
direct contribution to the serum production process that saves lives across
Thailand. It supports scientific research and continues a charitable mission
rooted in royal compassion.
Join us in nourishing our four-legged heroes,
ensuring they stay healthy and strong so they can continue their duty of
protecting our lives.
